Filiberto Amauty: Hmm, sounds like you want to vote for the Metro expansion project...check out California Proposition 1 for this year's general election.
Trena Berum: The short answer is because OCTA has decided not to build one.Los Angeles is more densely populated and not as wealthy. So there is more demand for public transportation. In wealthier suburban areas, people tend to be against mass transit. My feeling is that in another 20 years or so, Orange County will be regretting not investing in its transportation infrastructure. Freddy Shutler: You'r! e correct. Orange County does not have a light rail system like L.A. County's "Metro Rail", but many O.C. communities are served by "Metrolink" trains, and by Amtrak. To make a light rail system viable you must have large numbers of people going from one place to another. L.A has that, O.C. doesn't.Example. There are lots of people traveling between Long Beach and downtown Los Angeles, so the "Blue Line" makes sense. Where in Orange County is there similar large masses of people going from one town to the other?...Show more
