Where could a company build a Light Rail Train in the United States?

Nedra Oltz: In a factory?Or do you mean in which town/city?

Chastity Doderer: Nick, nick, nick! you ought to look at this question heavily. the place is that this "actuality" coming from? Is it based in actuality or is it an assumption? Whose asking the question? And consistently, consistently, consistently do learn someplace different than the internet. traditionally we've the biggest in line with capita power intake due, partly, to our modern-day life of unpolluted restrooms, filtered-chlorinated-flouridated(and freed from noisome bugs) and severe high quality nutrition availability. different worldwide places are catching as much as the U.S. interior the hobbies of offering a healthful happy economic equipment and to hold peace to people world huge....Show more

Vickie Sterbenz: Which company and where could the trains be built in the United States? LRT Light Rail Trains

Refugio Gastineau: Connecticut could use several of them. This state is so back wat! ered,New york is only 60 miles away with a very reliable rail system, and this state only has the local railroad.some kick the gov in the pocket, and the head for the idea!

Leontine Kreitz: Bombardier.a world wide manufacturer of light rail equipment is building trains in Pennsylvania and New York

Cordia Fivecoat: Any city with a population with over 300,000 will do in my opinion. I know that my county (Orange County) had light rail from the late 1800s to the 1950s operated by Pacific Electric Railway but all service stopped and tracks were pulled/sold the Southern Pacific in the 1960s. Thats because more and more people started owning cars. But the more a population grows, the more the need for a mass transit system. I wish they brought the Pacific Electric back to our county.Sorry I ran off from the main answer (Thats what happens when you talk about history lol). So any city with a poputlation of 300,000 or more would be an ideal location. Are you thinking of s! tarting one? It would be a great idea at this age in time....S! how more

Galen Gowers: The failing midwest of course! But you need to actually have a company capable of building light rail vehicles. You can't just grab some random company that's good at building something else (example: Boeing) and expect their light rail vehicle to be anything better than a festering bucket of manure that bankrupts every transit agency stuck with the things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Standard_Light_Rai... http://btem.transithistory.org/lrv/...Show more

Elmo Tervo: In Janesville, Wisconsin where they just closed down the G.M. plant....it's a huge building just waiting for something like that ! Also, it would save, not just Janesville, but all of Rock County !

Ilana Gaster: The first thing you have to think about--and which nobody here seems to have thought about--is that Light Rail lines are planned and approved by municipal and regional governments. You have to get the local government interested before you can even start to t! hink about a Light Rail project. If you can get several members of a city council or county commission interested, they can begin to pave the way toward laying a proposal before the official body. That will take five years and cost $20 million, and then the fun begins. From the day the proposal is laid before the council/commission, expect to waste 20 years on political garbage. Light Rail always faces an uphill battle because of the political clout of oil companies, auto and truck manufacturers, and highway contractors, who all stand to lose money if the more efficient Light Rail project is adopted. At the end of the 20 year wait, construction can begin if all the approvals and the funding go through. There has to be a Democrat in the White House, and it is a big help if the Democrats control the House and Senate. At the very least, the house and senate delegations from your state need to be Democrats. Republicans don't like railroads, because too many of them work for! the oil companies and highway contractors. So the people who want to bu! ild Light Rail lines really don't have much control. You have to get some influence in government circles, first. Then the equipment can be manufactured by Bombardier, M-A-N, or Boeing.Sorry it's such a dirty world. But that's what you're up against.Good luck!...Show more
