answers 0:Can you share your experiences? I mentioned to my doctor that I was thinking of getting two implants and she told me that she has heard horror stories from friends about them. Now she has me thinking twice so, I'd like to hear from anyone who has them or knows someone who does. What were your/their experiences like? Don't hesitate to tell me anything. I want to know it all. Serious, polite, relevant answers only please.answers 1:Your Doctor or dentist? Horror stories? I have dental implants and love them. With dental implants however it is a precise profession that requires skill to place them correctly. A prosthodontist is the dental professional you should look for. This type of dental professional specializes in replacement teeth. Oral surgeons and periodontists also can place dental implants but remember who yo! u choose to place the implants you then have to find someone to make the teeth. I chose a Prosthodontist with a lab on the premises. I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom and my teeth are attached with screws and I do not remove my teeth but clean them with floss and a toothbrush. Feel free to write to me if you want a friend.Don't fear dental implants. They are so safe and the next best thing to natural teeth. Most people who get dental implants have no problems. Scottish Babe, the person who placed your mother's implants must have been incompetent. Because one dental professional did shoddy work you cannot compare the whole implant experience to the very sad unfortunate situation your mother experienced. My doctor's office now has a 99 to 100% success rate as they only place dental implant as the main aspect of this office. Dental implants are safe as the provider one chooses. Failure of dental implants is not from the implants but from the person who placed them..! ..answers 2:I have no idea who gave you two ( Skeeter and Scot! tish Babe) thumbs down. You both have given good, detailed answers. I appreciate it very much. Skeeter, my physician is the one who told me that some of her friends told her horror stories about implants. She said this because I went to her to treat my TMJ and I mentioned that I probably developed this condition because I need implants and I plan to put them in next year. I don't know if she was just being chatty but she really made me wonder when she said this....answers 3:Put it this way my mum used to stay in america and got implants put in wish cost thousands she is now back in the {UK} and the problems she has had with these implants have been a nightmare they had to be removed due to a major abscess witch some of her jaw bone has had to be removed and bone taken from another part of her body to build the jaw line back up she has went through excruciating pain i really don't recommend this what about veneers a lot safer i hope this has helped. xx...
