Roxane Leathers: My cousin graduated two years ago to be a history teacher and still can't find a job. Go in the direction of administration. That's the big bucks
Debora Rinderer: I understand that different states have different requirements. I live in Nevada, and I plan to go to a Nevada school. I plan to move to and teach in Idaho or North Dakota.
Freeman Rutkin: Robet, I do understand what I am getting into. I will just have to work harder than the average history/education graduate. I never understood you people. You guys let the economy get in the way of your dreams. Have fun with that. I am angry at people who do not even bother answering. I wouldn't mind if they added what they said to an ANSWER TO MY QUESTION....Show more
Conrad Puleio: At most colleges, you can double major. So you would select a double major in history and secondary education. I'm not going to lie, a double major is a lot of work, but many people have completed a double major! with a minor successfully. I would not suggest a minor in political science, but rather that you emphasize political science when you choose your elective courses. You will have to work hard to find a job, but to be honest with you, at this point with the state of the economy and the current unemployment rate, everyone looking for a job will have to work hard and may have trouble finding a job. It will be no different for you. If you go to the right school, they will help you find a job or figure out what to do after college, if you decide not to go right into the workforce. The job prospects for history teachers are not so bad that you need to have another degree in the event that you cannot find a job. Even if that were the case, I would suggest you a double major in history and some other, more stable field, such as business, so that you would have another option should history not work out. However, the job prospects for history teachers are good enough that you can do! uble major in history and secondary education, if you can hand! le it academically....Show more
Gertrude Darke: If you're in the USA, Social Studies is probably the worst teaching field to get into. It's much easier if you teach science, a modern language, or bilingual education. Special Education used to be a big field but now everyone is certified in that.
Rosann Mccomb: In addition, I will teach history. Deal with it. There is no other field I enjoy more, and it is my best field. I cannot stand people who just post that crap. Answer my question, I understand what I am getting into.
