is playing video games sinning/serving mammon?

Lionel Tanen: Me Hate Video Games!

Jefferson Sarson: I'm not sure, if it turns out to be sinning let me know, I need to take it up.

Antwan Schrum: Okay now I may be wrong about this, but how in the hell would anyone know if playing video games are a sin or not since people in the past (when the bible was written) had no clue that video games would exist in the future? In short, we shouldn't be living our lives in fear. Do what you want just as long as it's not harming anyone....Show more

Shawn Lelis: Not necessarily. Video games wasnt even there when those prophets told us about afterlife and sins. And if they are E rated, then theres no way playing it will conflict any writings from bible, quran, etc. Just wondering where do u learned playing video games is sin?

Rachal Osaki: aren't there like, left behind type shooters for you folks? "tribulation force" rings a bell.

Kirk Coolbeth: I wouldn't like to be Mammon's waiter. Saw his picture in t! he Dungeons and Dragon's Monster Manual, and he's one mean-lookin' dude with mucho grande hit points. It's Friday night and I am home alone. So what do you want?

An Trebil: one could take a fatalistic approach and interpret, all games as a waste of time, and unproductive. but its not totally. One could take the approach of the Luddite religion or the certain branches of the Amish who dont even use electricity. or one could say That God has allowed all things, and that everything is a Gift from God to be used in righteousness. i myself would desire that this! is the latter truth. its up to the true disciple to sell all he owns, and give to the poor, and forsake all things that are ungodly. and take up his Cross. (by this strictness of definition in biblical terms, i have concluded that there truly is NO True disciple in all of christianity.) Oh, wait, there are those that go on missions. here are some examples of history:there was a time in american and english histor! y that both acting and playing cards was declared a sin. Poker! was seen as a training game for being a liar and deviant. acting had its own sins as hollywood now proves it to be true.if card games were a sin, of course video games and watching football is also a sinbefore rock n roll was considered the 'devils music' people condemned the fiddle as well as being defilish. in LDS theology card games such as poker, were demonized. video games too are nothing better than poker. what is the difference ? is who we serve, as you correctly ask. and who we give our labor (money) to and who we serve. most industry in the world is controlled by evil men, and only a few antichrist Bankers. I guess you have heard of them?!!!in my life, i belong to a CLUB of Online gamers, in times passed i have played games for entire weeks and 12 hours a day. i began playing dungeon and dragons when i was 14, but after i graduated from high school, i recognized that RPG games for me was a total waste of time. i never played DnD again. except, i have a compute! r program to this day, which is called Tellengard. Sometimes when there is nothing to do, and NOT even Q&A RS is enough to keep Busy and productive, and if i have no work place to go to, i do video games, i play cards, i even have a couple of beers. and yes Most people believe the key to happiness is Moderation....Show more
